Abstract: Our 3rd syndicated Gynecology Thought Leader Panel report summarizes the opinions and perspectives of six North American and European peer-recognized gynecologists and reproductive endocrinologists. The Panel chose to focus on three topics: vasomotor symptoms, female sexual dysfunction and the prevention of breast cancer. \n\nVasomotor symptoms (hot flush, hot flash, night sweats) are extremely prevalent in perimenopausal and menopausal women, with reported rates approaching 90%. They are also a cause of discomfort in hypogonadal men. The Panel explores the emerging standards of care for treating VMS in women, including both hormonal and non-hormonal pharmacotherapies. Key approaches that the Panel reviews include the use of hormonal therapy, either alone or opposed by progestins or SERMs, CNS active drugs and vasodilators. \n\nThe Panel also reviews the clinical programs of key pharmaceuticals seeking indications for the treatment of female sexual dysfunction.
